Certified Melillo Method Practitioner Australia
About Us
At Flourishing Brains, we take a holistic, science-backed approach to supporting your child’s development. Rather than treating isolated symptoms, we focus on the bigger picture, creating a personalised plan to help your child thrive.
Every child holds the potential to flourish.
Our work is simply to clear the path.
Our work is grounded in Developmental Functional Neurology, an innovative framework that identifies underdeveloped areas in the brain and nervous system.
While child development typically follows a biological blueprint, deviations can occur at any stage – from pre-birth through to late childhood.
The early years, especially before age three, are particularly sensitive to these shifts.
We focus on identifying and integrating retained primitive reflexes to support your child’s cognition, learning, movement, and wellbeing.
Meet Liana
As a certified Melillo Method™ Practitioner in Australia, and Founder of Flourishing Brains, Liana is passionate about helping children and families thrive, by uncovering and addressing the root causes of behavioural, developmental, and emotional challenges.
Her approach is based on Developmental Functional Neurology, with a special focus on brain balance, nervous system regulation, and research-based strategies that promote lasting change.
Liana’s interest in the brain-body connection was sparked by years of working with families navigating sensory overload, immune dysregulation, sleep struggles, and emotional overwhelm.
Discovering the work of Dr Robert Melillo in 2020 provided a transformative framework for understanding how retained primitive reflexes and hemispheric imbalances can impact learning, behaviour, and wellbeing.
Since then, she has dedicated herself to advanced study in brain-based care for children, becoming a Fellow of the International Board of Functional Neurology in Childhood Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Her approach is holistic, playful, and collaborative – meeting each child with curiosity and compassion, while empowering parents with practical tools and hope.
In her space, you’ll often find Henri, her much-loved therapy dog, helping children feel calm, connected, and confident on their journey to flourishing. If your child isn’t comfortable around dogs, Henri will take a nap elsewhere during your visit!
